The StraightAway swing aid is a small clip-on training device that fixes the number-one fault in amateur golf: the takeaway. David Leadbetter has spent nearly 50 years teaching the game and calls the takeaway "the first link in the chain." Get it wrong and you spend the rest of the swing compensating.
The StraightAway clips onto any club in seconds. As you take the club back, it gives instant feedback on whether your hands and clubhead are on the tour-takeaway path — the move that pros make and amateurs typically don't (hands appear inside, clubhead appears outside). You can practice with it indoors without a ball or on the range while hitting shots.
What it trains
- Takeaway path (hands in, clubhead out)
- Hand-and-clubhead synchronization at the start of the swing
- Swing tempo (eliminates the rush that breaks the takeaway)
- Posture maintenance through the start of the motion
Works with every club from driver to chipping wedge. Right- and left-handed compatible. 4 inches, 2 ounces, with a small carry pouch included. From the inventor: "In all my years of teaching, I have never seen as much improvement in golf swings than when players start using the StraightAway swing aid."
