02  Approach

Improve ball striking.

Fat shots, thin shots, no compression. The three faults that erase the most strokes. Here's how Rob would actually attack it.

Coach's noteLow point is the killer. Half an inch separates a stinger from a chunk.

The prescription

One cause at a time. Low point first.

  1. Find the low point

Fat and thin come from where the club bottoms out. A board that marks every strike shows you where, shot by shot.

  2. Set up the line

Grip, aim and takeaway set the face and the path before you reach the ball. Plates, sticks and clip-on aids make each one something you can check.

  3. Check it with numbers

Once a fix feels automatic, a launch monitor tells you whether the ball agrees.

Coach's notes

Before you buy a launch monitor.

When you need one, when a radar is enough, and which numbers to actually watch.
