How it started

It started with one question.

James Stutz had been taking lessons from Rob Bluck for years, and he kept asking the same question: where do I buy the gear that actually works?

Rob’s answer was always the same: there isn’t one good place. So James built it.

Elevation Golf Lab is that place: Rob vets everything, and James runs the shop.

Rob decides what makes the list. If a product doesn't do its job, it doesn't get carried, whatever it costs. The list is short because he says no far more often than yes.

How we vet

Four questions. Most gear doesn't pass.

Every product on the list answers yes to all four. Most don't make the list.

  1. Would a coach actually use it?

    If it doesn't show up in a real lesson or a real practice session, it doesn't belong here.

  2. Does it fix a problem most golfers have?

    It has to work on a common miss: start line, face control, strike or distance control.

  3. Will it still work in three years?

    No short-lived apps or fragile add-ons. It has to stand on its own for a few seasons.

  4. Does it beat what we already carry?

    When two tools do the same job, we keep the one that's clearer to use and more consistent. The other one goes.
